MULLEN, Gerard Thomas, age 89 of Miamisburg, passed away Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at Miller Farm Place, Dayton. He was born November 11, 1927 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Peter and Mary (Eason) Mullen. In addition to his parents, Gerard was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Joan (Daboul) Mullen and siblings, Frances, Kathleen, Eileen, Vera, Peter and John as well as his loving step-mother who raised him as her own, Kate Mullen. Gerard is survived by his children, Gerard J. (Donna) Mullen of Miamisburg, Renee (Michael) Brown of California and Mary (Rob) Katzenbach of Utah; grandchildren, Ian Mullen and Alexander Brown as well as a large extended family. Gerard graduated high school in Coney Island, NY and completed trade school for industrial arts in Manhattan. Gerard was also a decorated scholar of the "School of Hard Knocks". He honorably served the U.S. Army during WWII as a medic before settling down into a life-time career of sales. He was introduced to inking consumables when carbon paper was in high demand and grew with the industry as the technology developed. Gerard enjoyed socializing; never knowing a stranger. He was a member of St. Leonard Catholic Church, Centerville and enjoyed visiting the gym and golfing in his youth. In his later years he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Services will be private at the convenience of the family and Dayton National Cemetery will serve as Gerard's final resting place. Memorial contributions may be made to The Unforgettables Foundation of Southern Ohio at P.O. Box 750062, Dayton OH 45475 or at http://unforgettables.org/.
