COX, Minnie Avonelle, age 91 of Miamisburg, passed away Friday, June 9, 2017 at Heartland of Miamisburg under Hospice care and was able to stay in her home up until her very final hours. She was born, July 31, 1925 in Shelbyville, IN to the late Clell M. and Minnie (Arnold) McKinney. In addition to her parents Minnie was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Donald L. Cox in 2003 and her siblings, Elsworth "Bud" McKinney, Elsie J. Henniger, Deloris Davis, Clell McKinney Jr. and Silbert "Shorty" McKinney. Minnie is survived by...

COX, Minnie Avonelle, age 91 of Miamisburg, passed away Friday, June 9, 2017 at Heartland of Miamisburg under Hospice care and was able to stay in her home up until her very final hours. She was born, July 31, 1925 in Shelbyville, IN to the late Clell M. and Minnie (Arnold) McKinney. In addition to her parents Minnie was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Donald L. Cox in 2003 and her siblings, Elsworth "Bud" McKinney, Elsie J. Henniger, Deloris Davis, Clell McKinney Jr. and Silbert "Shorty" McKinney. Minnie is survived by her children, Rebecka A. Cox of Virginia and Marcus L.Cox of Miamisburg; a friend and neighbor, LuAnn Bowman and several nieces and nephews. Minnie began work at an early age by leaving home with her father for Ohio and waitressing for many years. She was married and continued to work in food service until she was blessed with children which allowed her a brief reprieve from her strong work ethic. Minnie had been employed by Kettering Hospital central supply and Monarch Marking cafeteria prior to landing a career as a bus driver for Miamisburg City Schools, where she safely transported children for 26 years before retirement. Minnie was a member of AFCME Union and OEA. She was a devout parent and enjoyed cooking well and plenty for her family. She will always be remembered for her spirit, loyalty and loud little whistle. Family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 PM Thursday, June 15, 2017 at Gebhart-Schmidt-Parramore Funeral Home, Miamisburg. Funeral services will begin 10:00 AM Friday, June 16, 2017 also at the funeral home and officiated by Chaplain Mitch Pollic. Hillgrove Cemetery, Miamisburg will serve as Minnie's final resting place next to her husband.
